Construction Shielding

RF Solutions operate an on-site service of providing shielding rooms, from RAF control towers to luxury yachts. There’s also an increased interest in public safety and shielding homes and offices.

Many new offices , schools and hospitals  install cableline trunking which carry power , communications and data cables with the increased use of electronic devices, radio frequency interference has become an issue especially when the cables are bunched together into trunking, although this used to be a metal enclosure, people are turning to plastics for ease of assembly, cost and appearance.

These benefits however result in the trunking becoming invisible to radio waves and therefore need to be shielded, some OEM’s have adopted metal inserts but others, which our management team have been instrumental in designing, are using Nickel and Copper coatings to protect against RFI and ESD.

Shielding  the RAF control tower panel sections, would initially be coated in our factory before being shipped for assembly. Once assembled on the tower, our team would apply earthing and grounding strips to maintain a good shield  and conductor, bonding to hand rails. Once applied the whole area is weather protected with a decorative anti-slip finish and all the joints are sealed with lead flash. Other applications involved shielding a high end luxury yacht where the comms room interfered with the owners living and entertainments quaters.
